Working Against Cancer was founded in 2001, based on an idea from a 20 year old cancer patient. The organization originated as a mentor program for children, adolescent, and young adult cancer patients and survivors. WAC is currently expanding its Youth Mentoring Program by including our Survival Scholarship Program (providing awards for academic and vocational scholarships), and soon our Career Opportunity Referral Program. Our vision is to be a world class organization that helps young cancer patients and survivors move beyond their cancer diagnosis, treatment, and post treatment “stressors” to lead enjoyable and independent lives by maximizing life possibilities.
